Welcome to the Resurrectory, where we bring beautiful creatures back to life
Foxy hits the bigtime
It was exciting seeing the Eternal Creatures workshop turned into a television studio for the day…
Each episode of Gruen features a segment called ‘The Pitch’ which invites advertising agencies to solve an unsolvable brief. The unsolvable brief for this episode was “saying “no” to news”.
I was contacted by Brainheart, a Brisbane based Advertising Consultancy who partnered up with Carbon creative to come up with an anti-news advertisement, the idea being that news is generally negative and disrupts your day with everything from negative news reports to trivial celebrity trash news.
So I was tasked with creating some bad taxidermy which was surprisingly harder than I’d anticipated! Taking an existing mounted fox head, I modified its eyes, adding whites and a false eyelid to one eye to give the impression of it having a lazy eye. I also crafted a fake tongue hanging out its mouth to give it a somewhat brain damaged appearance.
With over 1 million people watching, this foxy creation made its appearance on national TV.
An actor was used to play the taxidermist. I didn’t mind though I wouldn’t be caught dead “stuffing” an animal with newspaper!
